International scientific conference The Clash of Civilizations – western liberalism versus confucian meritocracy falls within the research area of Political Science, especially political thought. The aim of the conference is to draw attention to the differences between Western and Eastern political thought and the reasons for this, and at the same time to illustrate its direct translation into reality on the basis of the actions of decision makers. The issues covered by the conference can be considered from a national, international as well as philosophical perspective. This gives the conference a multidisciplinary character, allowing many researchers from different but related disciplines to present their research. This will provide a more holistic approach to the subject.

The conference will meet all the requirements necessary to grant its international status – both of the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the internal regulations of the Jagiellonian University.

KSSM UJ (International Relations Student Association of Jagiellonian University) has many years of experience in organizing such events. The scientific care will be provided by Dr Arkadiusz Górnisiewicz from the Department of Political Philosophy (Institute of Political Science and International Relations) of the Jagiellonian University. The conference will be held online on 12 December 2020.
